OUR SELECTION OF FINE WINES OF TUSCANY
The wine
list is just as exclusive as the oil selection.
These are all wines chosen on
a criteria of small farms in Tuscany, produced organically (with or without
certification - please see
Organic), famous and great value wines. Some
of these wines are of a very limited production and are not exported.
Just like
the oils, the wines must be reserved well in advance to guarantee the
availability. For this reason you should email us first to check
availability. You can choose single bottles per type, 3
bottles per type with 10% discount,
or 6 bottles of a kind with 20% discount.
The orders should be by the 12, 24, 36 ....
The
shipping must be added in the end.

San
Lorenzo '03
Sassotondo
is situated a few kilometers from Pitigliano, in the beautiful
Maremma. An area which is famous for its Tufo rock but also
for its native grape varietal named Ciliegiolo. This organic
wine produces the most beautiful Ciliegiolo wine in the entire
area, the San Lorenzo, a full-bodied wine with lots of fruit
and spices. It is perfectly harmonic and can be put away in
your cellar for years to come. For more info on the winery,

Rosso
di Montalcino '04
San Polino is an
organic certified boutique winery and the
cure from the vineyards to the cellar is more than evident in the wines
that are a pure result of what the year has decided to give, after a
scrutinized selection. Nothing is added to the wine, apart from minimal
quantities of Sulphur Dioxide.
This Rosso is of good structure and tannins, great undercurrent taste of
red berries and black cherries. Being a fresh and bright Sangiovese, it
drinks well already, but it wouldn't hurt to hang on to it another year
or two. |

Brunello di Montalcino
'03
This was one of the best '03s tasted at the Benvenuto
Brunello wine fair (for more on the fair please see blog
posts:
http://tuscan-wine-tours.blogspot.com/2008/02/benvenuto-brunello-2008-video-1.html).
The '03 vintage was generally characterized by warm wines, but
this Brunello stands up to its name and has kept the typical
characteristics of the Brunello. The wine is already very well
in balance and is, as always with San Polino's wines, very
clean, suttle and true to itself. There is no doubt that this
winery is going to show us a lot more in the future and we
can't wait! |

Brunello di Montalcino "Helichrysum" '03

This special selection Brunello takes its name from the
herb called Helichrysum, a wild Mediterranean herb that grows
on the fields of San Polino. This Brunello's bouquet reminds
you of the wonderful perfume that this herb has, which is why
the winery has chosen to call the wine by the name of the much
loved herb. For the small price difference, this is definitely
the one to get if you prefer very fine wines. Only 1.600
bottles made.

Brunello di Montalcino
'02 The
maintenance and increase of biodiversity and
particularly of the variety of ecosystems within the estate reinforce
the natural propensity of the Sangiovese, thus producing richer and more
complex wines. This Brunello vintage has given a powerful wine of
great concentration with notes of minerals, figs and prune and an
evident vanilla finish. Very pleasing depth and deserves to be drunk in
the company of steak or mature cheeses. |

A
Gold Medal Brunello di Montalcino '01
This Brunello is one of the finest expression of this kind of wine.
A pure Sangiovese that ages for 5 years and is then put into commerce.
It is of excellent structure and tannicity, evident black fruits and
beautiful use of wood, soft and dense.
So very full-bodied, elegant and complex, and in your mouth it just goes
on and on...
This Brunello will have a long life, so great investment!
2001 was
generally rated a four star year,
but is being reconsidered as one of the best vintages in the
past 10 yrs.
NB. Very few cases left.

from the lands of Le Chiuse.
This Rosso has a shining, clear appearance and is ruby red in color. It
has a good fragrance and intensity with the recognizable scent of small
red fruits. On the palate the wine is dry with a good persistency. It is
ready to drink right away, but will improve over the first couple of

- very limited production.
With an almost impenetrable color tending towards a purplish hue, this
100% Syrah offers up leather, cedar, vanilla, dark chocolate and spices
wrapped in velvety tannins. The vineyard is just half an acre yielding
no more than 1,000 bottles of this rich almost hand-made wine. The 2003 Banditone was
chosen by Morrell of New York for their Top 100 Wines of the Year

Chianti
Classico Riserva "Bugialla" '04
Produced only in the best vintages, from the best fruit from the "Bugialla"
vineyard, a particularly auspicious vineyard in which the rocky soil
makes for acute competition among the vines. As a result, yields are low
and grapes particularly elegant. The wine is aged in new barriques for
18 months and then bottle aged.
The wine is dark ruby in colour, and shows wild berries, raspberries,
liquorice and tobacco on the nose. The tannins are full and round. It
has substantial structure and ageing potential.
Average production is 8000 bottles. |

wine, a Super Tuscan produced with autochthon grape varietals
(sangiovese and malvasia nera). This wine was first produced
in '79 and has since then won numerous awards amongst which it

Rosso di Vιo '02
If one
could talk of a Super Umbrian, this would definitely join the
category. However, it is not necessary to classify as it comes
from Umbria's most famous winery. Practically, the 2002
harvest was very difficult and only one third of a regular
harvest was obtained. These few grapes were put together and
Vιo was created.
A wine which drinks beautifully now and through the next

This
is the wine of fame. It was recently given as much as 97
points!
The grape varietal is 100% Sagrantino and it is the best
selection of grapes that goes into this piece of art. All of
the wines are produced by the "vini veri" method which in
practice means that the wine is made by the grapes only and
with no additives whatsoever. This is part of what has made
the Paolo Bea winery as famous as it is. |
